What is Iris Dye-VL?

The Iris Dye-VL is an advanced light-based treatment from Alma that uses Advanced Fluorescence Technology (AFT) to deliver precise, narrowband pulses of light in the 500–600nm wavelength range. Unlike traditional IPL, this technology converts light into a uniform and stable beam that selectively targets the two primary chromophores responsible for skin discoloration: melanin and hemoglobin.

By precisely targeting melanin, the treatment breaks down pigmented lesions such as sun spots, age spots, freckles, and hyperpigmentation. By targeting hemoglobin in abnormal blood vessels, it effectively reduces vascular concerns, including rosacea, redness, broken capillaries, and spider veins, all without harming the surrounding healthy tissue.

The Iris Dye-VL Procedure

To begin your Iris Dye-VL treatment, we’ll cleanse the treatment area and provide you with protective eyewear. The built-in contact cooling on the handpiece helps keep the treatment comfortable throughout. Dr. Hassanzadeh will then use the Iris Dye-VL handpiece to deliver precise pulses of light energy to the targeted areas.

Treatment is quick with no downtime required. The number of sessions you need will depend on your specific concerns and goals, though optimal results are typically achieved after 2–3 treatments.

Iris Dye-VL Recovery

There is virtually no downtime with Iris Dye-VL. You can return to your normal routine immediately after treatment. Mild redness or slight swelling may occur but typically subsides within a few hours. You may start noticing improvements after your very first session, with skin becoming progressively more even-toned and radiant over the following treatments. You will want to apply sunscreen regularly to protect your skin while it heals.

Ideal candidates for Iris Dye-VL are individuals in generally good health who are dealing with pigmentation concerns such as sun spots, age spots, freckles, melasma, or hyperpigmentation, or vascular concerns such as rosacea, redness, broken capillaries, or spider veins. Frequently Asked Questions About Iris Dye-VL

What does Iris Dye-VL treat?

Iris Dye-VL is a vascular laser treatment designed to address redness, rosacea, broken capillaries, spider veins, and other vascular skin concerns. It targets the pigment in blood vessels to reduce their visibility. It is an refined version of IPL technology, also known as Intense Pulsed Light.

Is Iris Dye-VL effective for rosacea?

Yes. Iris Dye-VL is particularly effective for patients with rosacea-related redness and visible blood vessels. The treatment targets dilated facial vessels that contribute to persistent redness and flushing, helping create a calmer, more balanced complexion.

How quickly will I see results?

Some improvement is visible shortly after treatment, with continued fading over several weeks as your body clears the treated vessels. Most patients benefit from a short series of treatments for best results.

What is the downtime like?

Some patients experience temporary redness or mild bruising in the treated areas that resolves within a few days. Dr. Hassanzadeh will walk you through what to expect based on the specific areas being treated.
